The tourist complex is located in a popular holiday destination on the shore of the Vityaz Bay in Khasan District, Primorskiy Kray. The project was conceived as the integration of the mariculture industry into the tourism cluster. When the design of the tourist complex began, the scallop farm had already been operating for 4 years.
The territory for design consists of 3 functional areas — one of which is for restaurant and excursion activities and location of production, two others are intended for tourist accommodation and infrastructure. The total design area is 29,000 m2. The 1st stage of construction of glamping modules (houses for tourist accommodation) was completed in 2023. The completion of all construction stages is expected by 2025.
The architectural concept is inspired by the aesthetics of a Norwegian fishing barnhouse village, as well as impressions of eastern seaside (Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese) resorts in a minimalist design. Some textures in the project take their associative origin from scallop shells. The basis of the design is minimalistic graphic silhouettes with people-friendly proportions. All new objects are placed with respect to existing natural elements and views.
The natural landscape is already an ideal exhibition space — all that remains is to add objects without unnecessary decoration, but with meticulous attention to detail. For such a project, it is important to avoid unsightly technical equipment and utility warehouses, so separate utility area was thought out. At the same time, the aesthetically presented process of scallop production promises the guests an interesting experience. Also, in the project implementation the soil cover and environment were restored to their natural form and appearance.
For our team, this project is of particular interest — immersion in mariculture technology, the creation of mixed-functional zones, and at the same time, the distribution of some processes throughout the territory. For example, it was necessary to provide spatial scenarios for a popular festival "Scallop's birthday", which is held every year in May. At the 2023 festival, guests were invited to take part in design and vote for a shade of red that would become the signature color for the entire complex and an orienting point for guests.
Special attention was paid to summer facilities — a summer canteen and a bathhouse on the shore with an attached rental of SUPs and kayaks, as well as a rescue tower. Detailed modeling of structures during the design process allowed the investor to see the technical aesthetics of wooden buildings in a photorealistic image.
