Characteristics
GRON residential building complex is located in the developing part of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, not far from the main highway, but among the dense development of individual houses.
The name (“GRON”, meaning “green”) invented by the studio and the general idea of Scandinavian minimalism were confirmed after the first presentation of the concept to the client. Five four-story houses share a closed courtyard with different recreation areas, playgrounds and sports grounds; all the equipment in the landscaping was developed individually for the complex.
Each apartment on the ground floor has a private terrace, and fences made of wooden slats allow you to maintain a sense of privacy. Parking spaces are provided with open parking, but two units have built-in garages for the convenience of auto use in the winter climate of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, for which heavy snowfalls are usual.
The main part of facade is fine cement tiles laid out according to the principle of brick masonry, and the upper elevated floor is finished with steel panels that are painted in copper patina color.
The color key in the landscaping is deep red, yellow and turquoise. The colors were chosen with the visual context of the long period of winter and the off-season. The landscaping concept is based on the client's requirement to "use only native plants," so the greening was designed in cooperation with local landscapers, and planting material was planted and shaped a year before the implementation of the project.
The landscaping concept was implemented jointly with Concrete Jungle.
